About Bank'd
These Terms and Conditions (Terms) govern your access to and use of the Bank'd app and website (together, the Bank'd Platform), the Bank'd subscription, and the other services, promotions, purchases and goods offered by Bank'd as described below. The Bank'd Platform is operated by Kids Money App Pty Ltd ACN 672 025 302, trading as Bank'd (Bank'd, we, us, our).
Bank'd is a corporate authorised representative (Corporate Authorised Representative No. 001323900 of Change Financial Payment Services Pty Ltd ABN 92 651 106 955 (Change Financial), the holder of Australian Financial Services Licence number 534901, explicitly for the purposes of providing advice and dealing in deposit and payment products, limited to non-cash payment products.
About the card and the Bank'd Wallet
The Bank'd Wallet and the Bank'd Mastercard® Debit Card (together, the Card Products) are issued by Change Financial, not by Bank'd. The Card Products are subject to separate terms and conditions between you and Change Financial, being the Cardholder Terms and Conditions available at https://www.bankd.com/change-financial-cardholder-terms-and-conditions.html and the Product Disclosure Statement available at https://www.bankd.com/change-financial-product-disclosure-statement.html (together, the Change Financial Terms). Both are also available on our website and in the app.
You enter into a separate contractual relationship with Change Financial when you acquire the Card Products. To the extent of any inconsistency between these Terms and the Change Financial Terms in relation to the Card Products, the Change Financial Terms prevail.
What these Terms cover
These Terms cover your use of the Bank'd Platform, the Bank'd subscription, trade promotions, in-app and website purchases, refunds and withdrawals, and goods sold by Bank'd. They do not govern the operation of the Card Products themselves, which are governed by the Change Financial Terms. It is important that you read and understand both these Terms and the Change Financial Terms before using Bank'd.

2. Accounts and how Bank'd works
Bank'd operates on a freemium basis:
Free access — you may create a free account and access the Bank'd app and game features at no charge, subject to these Terms.
Paid subscription — access to the debit Card Products and the features that depend on them requires a paid Bank'd subscription (see section 3).
A parent or guardian must be 18 years of age or older to register. By registering, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
As the Parent or Guardian , you are the account holder. You are responsible for loading and allocating funds to the Wallet and to each child's Card, and for setting and managing the spending limits, merchant restrictions, freezes and other controls that apply to each Card. The Change Financial Terms refer to the Parent or Guardian as the Account Holder.
You acknowledge and agree that, as a parent or guardian, you may grant your child access to the Bank'd Platform on a compatible device. For each child, you agree to explain these Terms to the child, ensure the child understands and agrees to abide by them, and you are responsible for the child's use of the Bank'd Platform, including any purchases made by the child.
To access and use the Bank'd Platform you must be an Australian resident, be using a compatible version of the app on a compatible device, and have completed the registration process (including any identity verification required by Change Financial to issue the Card Products).
Bank'd does not restrict use of the products based on the age of the child. Bank'd complies with applicable requirements relating to the marketing of financial products to children, and handles the personal information of parents, Guardians and children in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the Australian Privacy Principles and the Bank'd Privacy Policy (see section 10).
Available Balance
The Available Balance is the value available to be spent or used in connection with an account or child sub-account at a given time — being the value loaded and cleared, less any holds, pending transactions, fees or amounts allocated to savings or savings goals. Access to and use of the Available Balance through the Card Products is subject to a current, paid Bank'd subscription. The subscription controls your ability to access and spend the recorded balance using the Card Products. What happens if a subscription is not brought up to date is set out in section 4.
Funds received to top up a Wallet are held in a pooled account with Australian Settlements Limited (ASL) in the name of Kids Money App Pty Ltd. Those funds belong to Kids Money App Pty Ltd and are not held on trust for the Account Holder or any Cardholder. Change Financial records the Wallet balance and each Card balance. If Kids Money App Pty Ltd or Change Financial became insolvent, you may be an unsecured creditor for your Wallet and Card balances and may not recover all or part of those balances.
Pre-authorisations and holds
Some merchants obtain a pre-authorisation before the final transaction amount is known. A pre-authorisation places a hold on the amount requested by the merchant, and while that hold is in place the amount does not form part of the Available Balance and cannot be spent. Where a merchant does not complete or finalise a pre-authorised transaction, the hold may remain in place for up to 10 calendar days before being released and the amount returned to the Available Balance, in accordance with the Change Financial Terms.
Digital Wallets
Where supported, a Card may be added to a Digital Wallet (for example, Apple Pay or Google Pay) on a compatible device and used to make contactless and online purchases. A Card added to a Digital Wallet remains subject to the same limits, merchant restrictions, freezes and parental controls as the physical Card, and to the Change Financial Terms.
Digital Wallets are provided by third parties and are subject to those third parties' own terms and conditions and privacy policies. Bank'd does not control a Digital Wallet and, to the extent permitted by law, is not responsible for its availability or operation. You are responsible for keeping secure any device on which a Card has been added to a Digital Wallet, and for removing the Card from the Digital Wallet if the device is lost, sold or given away.
3. Bank'd subscription and fees
The subscription
The Bank'd subscription is an annual subscription that unlocks access to the debit Card Products and the features that depend on them. The subscription price and included features are set out on our website and in the app, and are confirmed to you before you subscribe.
Other fees and charges
Change Financial, as issuer of the Card Products, does not charge you any fees. All fees and charges payable by you in connection with the Wallet and the Card — including transaction fees, international transaction fees, replacement card fees, chargeback processing fees and direct debit dishonour fees — are charged by Bank'd and are set out in full in the Bank'd Product Disclosure Statement, available at https://www.bankd.com/product-disclosure-statement.html. Merchants, financial institutions and third-party payment providers may also impose their own fees or surcharges, which are not set or received by Bank'd.
Billing
By subscribing, you authorise Bank'd (and its payment service providers) to charge the subscription fee to your nominated payment method each year in advance, on a recurring basis, until the subscription is cancelled. You must ensure your nominated payment method has sufficient funds and is kept up to date.
If a subscription payment fails, Bank'd may retry the charge and notify you. Where the subscription fee remains unpaid, you authorise Bank'd to recover the outstanding amount by deducting it from the Available Balance held in connection with your account, and/or to suspend or cancel the subscription in accordance with sections 4 and 5. A failed payment may also result in a dishonour fee from your payment provider (which is not charged by Bank'd).
Arrears and debt collection
If your subscription fee remains outstanding, Bank'd may take reasonable steps to recover the amount owing. This may include deducting the amount from the Available Balance held in connection with your account, issuing reminders and notices, and, where the amount remains unpaid, referring the outstanding debt to a third-party debt collection agency. You may be liable for reasonable costs incurred by Bank'd in recovering an overdue amount, to the extent permitted by law. Bank'd will comply with all applicable laws and guidelines relating to debt collection, including the ACCC and ASIC Debt Collection Guideline. Interest on overdue amounts is charged at the Reserve Bank rate plus 6%.
Promotions and free trials
Bank'd does not currently offer a free trial. However, Bank'd reserves the right to introduce promotional offers from time to time, which may include free trial periods, discounts or other incentives. Any such offer will be subject to its own terms, made available at the time of the offer, and applies in addition to these Terms.
Cancellation
If you cancel your Bank’d subscription, your account and any associated cards will be frozen, and you will no longer be able to make transactions. Any remaining paid subscription period is forfeited and is not refunded.
Before cancelling, we recommend you withdraw any remaining funds from your account, as access to the account will be restricted once the cancellation takes effect. Any funds remaining in your account at the time of cancellation will be dealt with in accordance with the Change Financial Terms, and may need to be returned to you through the withdrawal process, which can take additional time.
Nothing in this clause limits any rights you may have under the Australian Consumer Law.
Changes to the subscription
Bank'd may change the subscription price or included features from time to time in accordance with section 13. Where a change increases the fee payable by you or is otherwise materially adverse to you, we will give you at least 30 days' prior notice.
4. What happens if your subscription lapses
Access to the Card Products depends on an active Bank'd subscription. If your subscription lapses or is suspended for non-payment, the following process applies:
First, use of the Card Products will be temporarily suspended — the card(s) will be frozen and cannot be used to spend funds until the subscription is brought up to date;
if the subscription remains unresolved after a period of 7 days, Bank'd will instruct Change Financial to cancel the Card Products. Change Financial will return any remaining value to Bank'd, and Bank'd will return those funds to you, less any fees, charges or other amounts you owe to Bank'd, in accordance with the Change Financial Terms and section 8 (Refunds, withdrawals and return of funds);
throughout, you will retain free access to the Bank'd app and game features (subject to these Terms).
A frozen or cancelled Card does not mean your recorded Wallet or Card balance is forfeited. The ownership and insolvency risks described under Available Balance still apply.
5. Suspension and termination
By you
You may terminate these Terms at any time by cancelling your account and subscription through the app or by contacting us. The Cancellation clause in section 3 applies. Any remaining value will be returned in accordance with the Change Financial Terms and section 8.
By Bank'd
Acting reasonably, Bank'd may restrict, suspend or terminate your access to the Bank'd Platform or any feature if:
you fail to pay the subscription fee by the due date, and this is not remedied within 7 days of us notifying you;
you breach these Terms, including the user conduct rules in section 11;
we reasonably suspect fraudulent or illegal activity;
we, or Change Financial, are unable to complete identity verification to our reasonable satisfaction; or
it is reasonably necessary to comply with law, including anti-money laundering, counter-terrorism financing or sanctions requirements.
We will endeavour to give you as much notice as is reasonable in the circumstances, though in some cases (for security, fraud or legal reasons) we may give limited or no prior notice. Termination does not release either party from existing obligations or liabilities.
6. Trade promotions and prize draws
From time to time, Bank'd may run trade promotions or prize draws (Promotions) in which eligible subscribers can win prizes. Entry into a Promotion is free — no additional purchase or payment beyond your existing Bank'd subscription is required to enter or win.
Unless otherwise stated in the terms of a particular Promotion:
only the parent or guardian who holds a paid Bank'd account (being an individual aged 18 or over) is eligible to enter and win. Children are not entrants and cannot win a prize;
eligible entrants are entered automatically while their subscription is active, and winners are drawn automatically at random;
each Promotion is conducted in accordance with all applicable laws in each State and Territory in which entrants reside. While Bank'd is based in Queensland (which does not require a trade-promotion permit), Promotions are open to eligible entrants nationally, and Bank'd will obtain any permits and comply with any conduct requirements applicable in other States and Territories (including New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory and South Australia) where required;
if a winning entry is drawn in connection with a child sub-account, the prize will be awarded to the parent or guardian who holds the associated account;
as a condition of entry and in accordance with applicable law, you consent to Bank'd publishing the first name and State or Territory of prize winners on our website, in the app, and in our communications, for the purpose of announcing and verifying winners; and
full terms, prize details, entry periods, draw dates and eligibility for each Promotion will be made available at the time of the Promotion and form part of these Terms for that Promotion.
Bank'd may promote Promotions and their outcomes on the Bank'd Platform, our website and by email or other communications to subscribers, in accordance with your communication preferences and applicable law.
7. In-app and website purchases
Purchases through Bank'd
Bank'd may make available for purchase, through the app and website, certain digital products including gift cards from reputable third-party brands (Gift Cards), supplied by a third-party gift card provider. Gift Cards may be purchased by parents and, where enabled by the parent, by children.
When a Gift Card or other in-app or website product is purchased, you authorise Bank'd to deduct the purchase amount directly from the Available Balance held in connection with your account. These purchases are processed by Bank'd and are not made using the physical Card or processed through the Mastercard network. Accordingly, these purchases are not eligible for card chargeback rights, and any queries should be directed to Bank'd.
Gift Cards are supplied by a third-party provider and may be subject to that provider's and the relevant brand's own terms, conditions, expiry dates and restrictions. Bank'd is not the issuer of the Gift Cards and, to the extent permitted by law, is not responsible for the acceptance, redemption, value or expiry of a Gift Card once supplied. Except as required by the Australian Consumer Law, Gift Card purchases are non-refundable once completed.
Parents or Guardians are responsible for all purchases made through their account, including purchases made by a child. Parents or Guardians can manage or restrict a child's ability to make purchases through the parental controls in the app.
8. Refunds, withdrawals and return of funds
Where a refund or withdrawal of funds is requested and approved, Bank'd will process the payment by transferring the relevant funds to the parent's or Guardian’s nominated external bank account.
For security and to help prevent fraud and money laundering, refunds and withdrawals can only be paid to the same external account from which the funds were originally deposited. Bank'd may decline or delay a refund or withdrawal where it is unable to verify the originating account, where required to comply with law, or where it reasonably suspects fraudulent or unauthorised activity.
Return of funds on cancellation
Where the Wallet or a Card is cancelled — whether by you, by Bank'd or by Change Financial — and value remains, Change Financial will first return the remaining balance to Bank'd. Bank'd will then return those funds to you, less any fees, charges or other amounts you owe to Bank'd under these Terms. Change Financial does not deduct any fees of its own. Funds returned under this section are paid in accordance with this section 8, including the requirement that they be paid to the account from which they were originally deposited.
Refunds, withdrawals and returns of funds will be processed within a reasonable time. Processing times may vary depending on your financial institution. Nothing in this section limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law or the Change Financial Terms.
9. Goods, shipping and delivery
Goods sold by Bank'd
Bank'd sells physical goods through its website and app, which may include card trackers, cards and card collateral (such as stickers), card wands, plush toys and other merchandise (Goods). Prices for Goods are set out at the point of sale and are inclusive of GST unless stated otherwise. Goods are subject to availability, and Bank'd may limit quantities or withdraw Goods from sale at any time.
Shipping and delivery
Bank'd is responsible for arranging the shipment and delivery of Goods and of card-related collateral. To do so, Bank'd will use personal information such as your name and delivery address. By placing an order, you agree to provide accurate and complete delivery details, and you are responsible for ensuring they are correct.
Delivery is available within Australia. Delivery times and costs are as set out at the point of sale and are estimates only; Bank'd is not liable for delays caused by third-party carriers or events beyond our reasonable control.
Risk in Goods passes to you on delivery to the address you provide. Title in Goods passes on full payment.
If an order does not arrive, you should contact Bank'd. All items are shipped with a Bank'd return address so that undelivered or returned items are returned to Bank'd, allowing us to attempt to re-fulfil or otherwise resolve the delivery.
Where an item is returned to us as undelivered, we will make reasonable efforts to contact you and re-send the item. Additional delivery charges may apply for re-sending items returned due to an incorrect or incomplete address provided by you.
Returns, refunds and replacements for Goods are handled in accordance with your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
10. Privacy and personal information
Bank'd collects, uses, holds and discloses personal information about you and your child(ren) in order to provide the Bank'd Platform and related services. The personal information we collect includes information such as names, email addresses, mobile numbers, dates of birth, residential and delivery addresses, account and transaction information, and other information you provide to us.
We use this information to, among other things: create and manage accounts; provide the app, subscription, purchases, promotions and Goods; process refunds, withdrawals and deliveries; verify identity and prevent fraud; run and administer Promotions; communicate with you; and comply with our legal obligations.
Bank'd handles personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the Australian Privacy Principles and the Bank'd Privacy Policy, which is available at https://www.bankd.com/privacy.html and in the app. The Bank'd Privacy Policy sets out how we collect, use, hold, disclose and protect your personal information, and your rights in relation to it. By using the Bank'd Platform, you agree to the collection, use and disclosure of personal information as described in the Bank'd Privacy Policy. You agree that the information you provide is true, accurate and up to date, and that you will keep it current.
11. Use of the Bank'd Platform
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, limited and revocable licence to use the Bank'd app on a compatible device for personal, non-commercial use in accordance with these Terms and any applicable Apple App Store or Google Play terms.
You must only use the Bank'd Platform for lawful purposes. You must keep your login credentials confidential and notify us immediately if you believe they have been compromised. You must not:
use the Platform in any unlawful, fraudulent, harmful, abusive or misleading way;
infringe the rights of others, including intellectual property or privacy rights;
impersonate any person or misrepresent your identity or affiliation;
transmit spam, malware or any harmful code, or interfere with the operation of the Platform or its servers; or
copy, decompile, reverse engineer or attempt to derive the source code of the Platform, or exploit its content for commercial purposes without our written permission.
We may remove content or restrict access where we reasonably consider these rules have been breached.
12. Intellectual property
Unless stated otherwise, all copyright, trademarks and other intellectual property rights in the Bank'd Platform and its content are owned or licensed by Bank'd and may not be reproduced, adapted or used without our prior written consent. 'Bank'd' and related marks are our trademarks.
The Bank'd Platform may also contain trademarks of third parties, including Mastercard, Apple and Google. Those marks remain the property of their respective owners, and nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use them.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may change these Terms from time to time. Changes that are not materially adverse to you may be made by posting an updated version on our website and in the app, effective from the date posted. Where a change is materially adverse to you or increases a fee payable by you, we will give at least 30 days' prior notice.
14. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Subject to those rights, you use the Bank'd Platform at your own risk. To the maximum extent permitted by law:
we do not warrant that the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free or free from harmful components, or that it will be suitable for your intended use;
we are not liable for any indirect, special or consequential loss; and
we are not liable for loss arising from your breach of these Terms, your negligence or misconduct, third-party products or services (including the Card Products issued by Change Financial, Gift Cards supplied by third parties, Digital Wallets and carriers), or events beyond our reasonable control.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for services or goods supplied for a fee is limited, at our election, to resupplying the services or goods or paying the cost of doing so. We exclude all liability for services supplied for free.
15. Complaints
"If you have a question or complaint about the Bank'd Platform, your subscription, a Promotion, a purchase or Goods, please contact us via the in-app support or by email at Support@bankd.com. We will acknowledge your complaint promptly and aim to resolve it within 30 calendar days of first receipt. Where a complaint relates to the Card Products, we may refer it to Change Financial."
If your complaint relates to a financial product or financial service and is not resolved to your satisfaction, you may contact the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA), a free and independent external dispute resolution scheme: www.afca.org.au · 1800 931 678 · info@afca.org.au · GPO Box 3, Melbourne VIC 3001. AFCA will generally not review a complaint unless you have first raised it with us. Complaints about Goods, delivery or Promotions are not financial services complaints and are handled by us under these Terms and your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
16. General
Assignment
You may not assign or transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms without our prior written consent. Bank'd may assign or transfer its rights or obligations to an affiliate or third party on reasonable notice to you.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, and the parties submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that State.
Severability and waiver
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, it may be severed without affecting the remaining Terms. No delay or failure by us to exercise a right operates as a waiver of that right.
Notices and communications
You consent to receiving communications and notices in relation to the Bank'd Platform and these Terms electronically — through the app, by email or by SMS — or by post to your last known address. You can manage your communication preferences in the app, although we may still need to send you certain notices about your account, your subscription or the Card Products.
17. Device Requirements and Compatibility
17.1 Minimum device requirements
The Bank'd app, and in particular its interactive 3D features and child experience, requires a compatible device that meets certain minimum hardware specifications. As at the date of these Terms, the minimum supported devices are:
Apple devices:
Family | Minimum model | Chip | RAM |
|---|---|---|---|
iPhone | iPhone 12 | A14 | 4 GB |
iPad | iPad (10th gen, 2022) | A14 | 4 GB |
iPad Air | iPad Air 4 (2020) | A14 | 4 GB |
iPad mini | iPad mini 6 (2021) | A15 | 4 GB |
iPad Pro | iPad Pro 11" (3rd gen) / 12.9" (5th gen) (2021) | M1 | 8 GB |
Android devices:
Family | Minimum model | Chip | RAM |
|---|---|---|---|
Phone | Samsung Galaxy A55 5G (or equivalent) | Exynos 1480 (or equivalent) | 6 GB |
Tablet | Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE (or equivalent) — where supported | — | 6 GB |
Android tablet support is limited and may not be available on all devices. We may update the minimum device requirements from time to time as the app evolves. The current requirements are available on our website and in the app.
17.2 Full and limited functionality
Where a device meets the minimum requirements, the full Bank'd experience is available. Where a device does not meet the minimum requirements, some features may be unavailable or may not function as intended. In particular, the interactive 3D child experience ("child world") and certain other features may not be accessible or may perform poorly. A parent or guardian may still be able to access certain account-management and banking functions on a device that does not meet the full requirements, but the complete Bank'd experience — including the child experience — requires a compatible device.
17.3 Your responsibility
You are responsible for ensuring that the device(s) you and your child use meet the minimum requirements, and for keeping your device's operating system and the Bank'd app reasonably up to date. Bank'd is not responsible for a device's inability to run the app, or for any reduced functionality, where the device does not meet the minimum requirements.
17.4 If a paid user does not meet the requirements
If you hold a paid subscription but your device does not meet the minimum requirements such that you are unable to make full use of the app, Bank'd will take reasonable steps to assist you to resolve the issue. Depending on the circumstances, this may include helping you identify a compatible device, adjusting your access, pausing your subscription, or arranging another reasonable remedy. To request assistance, contact us at Support@bankd.com. Nothing in this clause limits any rights you may have under the Australian Consumer Law.
